This is a bad example. There is not enough contast here to warrant the colon.

The statement would be better expressed using 'but':

We have two tickets, but only one is valid.

Alternatively, the statement could be split into two:

We have two tickets. Only one is valid

[This is jerky, but at least grammatically sound.]
