Definition
An adverb describes how, where, why, or when something was done.
It can go before or after the word it qualifies.
Many adverbs end in ly.
EXAMPLES
quickly slowly angrily
- Sarah quickly finished her homework.
- Jim slowly walked home from school.
- The woman angrily shouted "Stop it!"
USE
The
adverb may go after the verb, as in
He broke the news as gently as possible.
Or
it may go before the verb, as in
She slowly handed him the present
There
are three types of adverb.
They
can describe, indicate, or show number.
